Corporate blogs ‘offer business benefits’

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

Company blogs can do much to improve a firm’s image and online presence, according to one expert.

Sage Lewis of Search Engine Watch said that blogs can offer several advantages to businesses looking to improve their public image, if a number of key tips are followed.

He said that it is advisable for companies to host their own blogs instead of using a domain name different to their own, if only to minimise disruption should new blogging software be used.

Enabling user comments can result in the creation of a host of new content for the site, as well as perpetuate the reputation of the company as willing to interact with customers, Mr Lewis noted.

"The quickest way to get others to know about your blog is to comment and be involved in other blogs within your industry," he added.

"You often are able to make your name a link to your website when commenting on blogs."
