New AOL service optimises ads for iPhone

AOL has announced that it’s Platform-A division is now able to target ads delivered through its network specifically for iPhone users.

The new service means that Platform-A can detect and deliver iPhone-specific ads whenever a device is browsing the internet and using website within AOL’s ad networks and other websites.

According to AOL, its Third Screen Media network is also capable of automatically redirecting iPhone users to advertiser websites that are optimised for the iPhone whenever they click on an advert.

"Today’s launch is a perfect example of how Platform-A’s unmatched reach, solutions and technologies can benefit advertisers trying to reach consumers in the most compelling way," commented Lynda Clarizio, president of Platform-A.

Commenting on the announcement, Stefanie Olsen of CNET News.com suggested that AOL is attempting to become the default ad system on the iPhone through the launch of the new service.
