Networking sites ’should be banned at work’
Social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace should be banned in the workplace, 66 per cent of Britons agree.
According to a poll conducted by Ciao Surveys, just 25 per cent see the potential of such sites as being useful for business networking.
Nevertheless, the sites were also found to be very popular in the UK - with 56 per cent a member of at least one networking site, of which Facebook was the most popular.
Moreover, nine in ten 18 to 24-year-olds were found by Ciao Surveys to have a profile on a social networking site.
Unsurprisingly, it was among this age group that the lowest level of support for a ban was found, with just 42 per cent in favour.
Among over-55s, however, this figure rose to 79 per cent.
Ciao Surveys also found that the sites were used by around ten per cent of workers in office hours - and that they were blocked in the workplaces of around twice that number.
