New social media news site launched
A new social media site, which should become a rival to Digg and Reddit, has been launched in public beta.
Mixx is a social news portal which allows users to submit stories and then vote for or against articles in a similar fashion to Digg. But it differs in that it allows users to personalise the site and choose various categories to suit their tastes.
“Mixx is all about you. Unlike other personal start pages or RSS readers, you don’t have to sift through a list a mile long to get to the stuff that is most interesting and relevant to you,” Mixx vice president of products and marketing Kerry Pearce-Parkins explained.
“All you have to do is tell Mixx what you like, and the best content is delivered automatically. That makes it easy to find others who share your interests, interact by location or even create a small group among your co-workers and friends to share and discuss things privately.”
Paid search and pay per click ads delivered on social news platforms can potentially reach a target audience of millions.
