Yahoo launches new Australian advertising system
Yahoo has announced that it has launched a new advertising system for its pages in Australia and New Zealand.
It system aims to advance paid search advertising by allowing marketers to target consumers with greater precision. Code-named Panama, advertisers will be able to refine delivery to 35 regions within Australia and 16 in New Zealand.
They will even be able to target individual suburbs as part of the scheme.
Yahoo Search Marketing (SM) says that this new feature "leverages Yahoo! Search Marketing WhereonEarth technology, which draws from 15 years of geo-targeting expertise to enable Yahoo! Search Marketing to more accurately understand and match to user search intent and colloquial terms."
Yahoo SM says that searches are not 100 per cent reliable at the present time - but it hopes that consumers will soon realise the advantages of targeted advertising and provide their location information as a result of this.
